Marianne Wallace is looking forward to the perfect Christmas — where all her children will be home for Christmas to celebrate the family’s holiday traditions. But as plans quickly unravel, Marianne must decide what’s truly important this Christmas season.
This short tale is filled with hilarious and heart-warming moments as Marianne is roped into heading the church’s hospitality committee — including its annual Christmas Tea — and filling in for the high school’s mascot, which just happens to be a trout! She learns lessons on dedication, helping others and seeking the true meaning of hospitality.
You will fall in love with the Wallace family, which includes, besides several adult children away from home, EMT husband Mike and high school senior and football player Kevin.
“The Great Christmas Bowl” is a lovely tale that will leave a smile on your face and tears in your eyes by the end. It reminds me a little of Warren’s latest novella, “Evergreen,” dealing with a couple facing an empty nest and having to decide to hold on to each other or drift apart.
Five stars out of five.
