Lynette Eason’s “Nowhere to Turn” is a great, non-stop, action-filled book about what it takes for an abused wife and child to finally find safety, and the added difficulty faced when her spouse is a dirty FBI agent.
Dani must learn who she can truly trust, and that things aren’t always what they seem. She turns to Adam Buchanan, a former U.S. Marshal who now works with Operation Refuge — an organization that works to protect those who can’t protect themselves. However, while trying to keep Dani safe, Adam must also work through his own family issues and heal some riffs. He’s torn between family obligation and the desire to protect Dani and Simon.
“Nowhere to Turn” is filled with twists and turns, keeping the reader guessing to the very end as to who can be trusted and who can’t. The characters are interesting — spanning all levels of kind and sweet to downright evil. Having a deaf character and the implications that arise from that are also an interesting twist to the novel.
Overall this was a really great read — it was extremely difficult to put down. My only “complaint”? I would have liked to have a little more back story on characters that were involved in the first novel in the series, reminding me about their story lines from “No One to Trust.”
Five stars out of five.
