Pirates in the Caribbean ... and the Panama Canal ...

Day One ... a Wonder
1.6.2011 -- After being delayed for awhile in the Buffalo Airport, we flew down directly to Orlando yesterday. We stayed at the Hyatt right inside the airport, which was really nice and took a lot of stress off of us. Today we headed to Port Canaveral to board the Disney Wonder.
It was a day of FIRSTS. This is our first time aboard the Wonder -- we had sailed on the Magic our first 2 cruises. This is the Wonder's first time going through the Panama Canal, which we didn't realize. It was the first time the new ship, the Disney Dream, was in Port Canaveral. It had just arrived in Florida from Germany days before we arrived. The buzz at the terminal was everyone trying to see the Dream docked down the channel. At the Adventures Away party, they gave us all giant white hands to wave goodbye as we left the port. We passed the Dream, which was a really cool experience. Because we were delayed in leaving the port, we got to see the ship all lit up. All their crew was out screaming and yelling and we were all out screaming and yelling. The ships' whistles blew back and forth: "When you wish upon a star," "Makes no difference who you are." What a fun experience! To think we were some of the first people (who weren't Disney staff or lived near Canaveral) to see the new ship! To read more, click here
