Day 5 - Aruba
1.10.11 - After arriving early in Aruba last night (due to the fact we had to skip Castaway Cay), we got up early this morning for our Island Tour and Beach Break excursion.
Mickey and gang waved goodbye to us as we left the ship. We headed to the Natural Bridge area, where the main bridge had collapsed several years ago. But we did see the Baby Natural Bridge, as well as the beautiful, yet rugged, northern coastline, lined with black volcanic lava rock. It's tradition, here, that tourists pick up a rock, make a wish on it, and then stack it on top of another rock. So everywhere you look, there are rocks stacked. It was a very beautiful area.
Then we headed to the Casibari Rocks area, where there are large rock formations. Some people dared to climb up to the top, but we didn't feel we had enough time. So we just wondered the paths and looked at the "flora and fauna" (lots of cactus!).
Next we were off to Eagle Beach. Gorgeous beach with beautiful white sand, but boy was the water cold. I thought so far south the water would be warm, but "no way Jose." So I didn't stay in the water long. Then there were no beach chairs, so we had 2 towels total to dry off and sit on.
Dinner tonight was at Animator's Palate. We both had the confetti tomato salad. Barkley had the pennette pasta in parmesan cream topped with turkey and proscuitto and I had lemon-thyme marinated chicken on top of mashed potatoes.
