Bailey is tasked with taking 4-year-old Maria Montoya home to Logan Point to visit Maria’s ailing grandparents. But on their way to the airport, major trouble arises. Thankfully Bailey runs into her ex-fiance Danny Maxwell and the mysterious Angel Guerraro who work together to help Bailey and the orphaned Maria travel safely to Logan Point.
What follows is a tale filled not only with a little romance, but also with danger and mystery — drug cartels, kidnapping, murder, extortion, and a plot that leaves you guessing who the true “bad guy” is until the very end.
The pacing of “Silence in the Dark” is quite fast and easy to read. Bradley always develops characters that are intriguing, fun and easy to love — including minor characters like the waitress Solana who helps save Bailey and her young charge.
Even though this is a suspense thriller, “Silence in the Dark” contains many excellent, deeper themes — how we must keep faith in hard and scary times, dealing with doubt, allowing fear to have control and power in our lives, peace and joy versus fear and anxiety, questioning why God allows bad things to happen in our lives, and trusting God.
Spanning between two countries, Mexico and the United States’ Mississippi, “Silence in the Dark” is another great addition to Bradley’s series. I hope we get to journey to Logan Point again!
Five stars out of five.
