A.H. Gabhart deliveries another fun cozy mystery with “Murder is No Accident,” when another mysterious death hits the small town of Hidden Springs.
When realtor Geraldine Harper falls to her death in the Chandler Mansion, Deputy Sheriff Michael Keane must determine if the fall was really just an accident — or is there more to the story, and just how is young teen Maggie involved. As another death occurs in this seemingly cursed historic home, Michael must sift through what little facts there are in the case, as well as look into some of the town’s newcomers, all while protecting those nearest to him.
And while trying to solve the town’s latest mysterious deaths, Michael must convince his big city lawyer girlfriend, Alex, to settle down with him for all eternity.
Gabhart’s Hidden Springs series is a fun, lighthearted series full of not only interesting mysteries with a tad of romance, but also great characters — from the sweet Michael and his lovely Aunt Lindy, to Alex and her Uncle Reese, the almost Barney Fife-like Lester, sweet Miss Fonda, determined editor Hank Leland, and Michael’s plucky office assistant, Betty Jean.
But even though “Murder is No Accident” is like Agatha Christie meets Mayberry, it is also filled with many great gems — we all need to make room for love in our lives; accepting the Lord’s timing; we never know how much time we have left; dealing with the “ifs” in life; and to “have faith, not worries … But some worries were nearly impossible to dismiss.” Gabhart reminds us that God is always in control, if we allow Him to be.
Five stars out of five.
