While eating at her favorite joint, San Antonio Police Detective Amara Alvarez meets parents who received a text message from their son presumed killed three years ago in a horrific bus versus train accident. As she begrudgingly decides to look into it, she finds coincidence after coincidence, quickly realizing the text may be more than just some harmless prank.
As Amara works alongside fellow detectives, a Texas Ranger and FBI agents to discover the truth to the three-year-old accident that claimed the lives of 17 children, she must learn to not only decipher whom she can trust, but what facts are truly real.
A story filled with twists and turns, plot lines you’ll never see coming, startling events, and only the slightest hints at romance, “Collision of Lies” is an incredible thriller. Threadgill does an amazing job of weaving together a keep-you-guessing plot, and develops some delightful characters — the strong Alvarez, a quirky homicide detective named Starsky, an eccentric medical examiner who delves into the meanings of common expressions and a plucky Texas Ranger.
Threadgill’s novel is so intriguing it keeps you turning page after page to find out the truth.
Even though published by Revell, “Collision of Lies” really has no religious themes. It’s just a nice, clean suspense thriller. It does hint at themes of perseverance, overcoming adversity, dealing with past trauma and following one’s convictions.
Fans of authors like Colleen Coble, Kelly Irvin and Lynette Eason will love this story. The end of the book features a sampling of the next installment, with no projected publishing date. I know I’m really looking forward to the next one and seeing how these characters’ stories continue.
Five stars out of five.
