Lynette Eason always offers awesome thrillers and she doesn’t fail to deliver yet again with “Without Warning.”
Her latest book follows another member of the Elite Guardian Agency — Katie Singleton, an ex-ATF agent with a horrific fire-related incident in her past. Now working for the bodyguard agency made up of mostly women, she meets Daniel Matthews, who finds himself in a dangerous situation when a man is found dead in one of his restaurants, just as another restaurant is burned to the ground.
Hired by Daniel’s niece, Riley, Katie and her crew must work to keep both Daniel and Riley safe, as well as determine who is after Daniel — and why.
Eason always offers quick-moving suspense action in her novels, with extremely likable characters. After meeting Katie, Olivia, Haley and Maddy, any girl would want to join the Elite Guardians Agency. And Eason does an excellent job of moving along the plot without giving away the “whodunnit.”
But besides being an excellent thriller, “Without Warning” manages to offer some excellent spiritual lessons too — that it’s OK to be angry with God, overcoming past horrors and mistakes, knowing God has a plan for us, knowing that He welcomes us back with open arms even if we walk away, and letting our faith shine. As Riley points out to Olivia: “It helps that I know God’s motives are good even when he allows bad things to happen.”
You will find it difficult to put down “Without Warning” until you’ve turned the very last page. I can’t wait to read Maddy’s story in the next installment!
Five stars out of five.
