Lynette Eason has wrapped up her Blue Justice series and the exploits of the St. John family with another incredible romantic thriller, “Vow of Justice.”
Undercover FBI Special Agent Allie Radcliffe is working to bring down Russian Mafia head Vladislav Nevsky when her cover is blown. When it appears her life is taken in an explosion, her partner — and potential love interest — Linc St. John vows to find Nevsky and make him pay.
But after their supervisor Henry Ogden encourages Allie to “remain” dead for her and Linc’s safety, and Linc shockingly comes face to face with a not-so-dead woman, he vows to work with Allie to bring down Nevsky, as well as his paid assassin Gregori Radchenko, a man with whom Allie has a past relationship with and a personal vendetta against.
What follows is a fast-paced, heart-thumping romantic thriller filled with kidnappings, explosions, murders, secret and hidden identities, unknown pasts, intrigue, and a case of whom-can-I-trust as Allie works with Linc and Nevsky’s 17-year-old daughter Daria to seek answers about her past.
Eason always does an incredible job of creating suspenseful plots filled with twists and turns, as well as extremely relatable characters. They are often full of flaws and insecurities that the reader can relate to. And with this series, Eason has built a beautiful cast of characters with the St. John family — a family filled with lawyers and doctors and law enforcement officials that readers will fall in love with.
But besides a great romantic thriller, “Vow of Justice” contains several amazing themes, like we are never alone and God never gives up on us; God will always stick with you; how to handle situations when you feel like God has turned deaf; we all suffer tragedies and hard times; and material things can’t comfort your soul.
As the title reflects, a major theme running throughout is revenge versus justice. This story reminds us that our peace isn’t dependent on justice; and justice and revenge are two very different things.
I know I will miss the St. John family, but look forward to whatever Eason may offer next.
Five stars out of five.
