Dawn Camp brings us a lovely compilation book, “The Beauty of Grace,” to remind us of love, grace, mercy and forgiveness. Compiled of black and white photos by Camp and short pieces by many different writers, most of whom are bloggers and all but one are women, “Grace” is broken into different topics: purpose, the big picture, surrender, trust, lessons learned, hope and encouragement, and worship.
Each author’s tale reminds us over and over that we are to love one another, as God loves us; that life’s circumstances aren’t all about “me,” but about God; even in the boring and mundane aspects of life, God still uses us; the dangers of comparing ourselves to one another; to not get hung up on our outer selves as God only sees our inner beauty; and that in Him, all things hold together. It teaches us about surrender, and allowing God to work in our lives. Holley Gerth offered this amazing quote, one of many you will find throughout the book: “But sometimes the bravest thing you can do isn’t to just keep going. Sometimes the most courageous act is surrender. Sometimes true strength is knowing when to give up.”
All of these women, and one man!, reveal themselves as “real” — people with flaws and warts and wrinkles and grumpiness. It’s definitely written for today’s woman, who will mine many lovely gems from “The Beauty of Grace” — constantly being reminded of God’s grace and love for us.
Four stars out of five.
