Taylor Martin is a volunteer profiler with the Newton County Sheriff’s Department and a victimology professor at the local university in Washington. We quickly learn she is being stalked and suspects a former student.
During her search for answers, she meets handsome author Nick Sinclair, who just happens to be the brother of her alcoholic student she suspects. And of course a strong attraction develops between the two.
“Shadows of the Past” is a fast-moving, dramatic read as Nick and Taylor hunt down who truly is behind her stalking; what happened to her father who “disappeared” 20 years ago; what happened to her brother’s wife who also disappeared; and learn who they can trust, and not trust.
Taylor also must learn to turn back to God and trust in Him and his plans for her (Jeremiah 29:11).
The author keeps you guessing throughout the book, throwing out plenty of clues – some real and some perhaps red herrings. The characters are likable and relatable, and there are many different back stories that add to the richness of this tale.
“Shadows of the Past” will keep you on the edge of your seat and keep you guessing until the very end.
Five stars out of five.
