“Oath of Honor” offers up an explosive debut to Lynette Eason’s newest Blue Justice series, which will follow the lives of a set of siblings all serving in emergency services.
This first novel follows the story of Izzy St. John, an officer with the Columbia, S.C., Police Department, whose mother just happens to be the chief of police, four siblings are in law enforcement, and a sister is a surgeon.
On a sting operation with her partner and lifelong friend, Kevin Marshall, a terrible tragedy occurs that might also implicate a member of her family. As she investigates the case with Kevin’s brother, Ryan, a fellow police officer, Izzy must get to the heart of the issue and figure out whom to trust, and how this tragic event could be tied to the current mayoral race.
But as both Ryan and Izzy mourn their joint loss, they find a romance start to bloom between them. Will they survive to see where their relationship could go?
Filled with kidnappings, fires, explosions, death threats, betrayals and so much more, “Oath of Honor” is an incredible and fast-paced romantic thriller filled with delightful characters and love-to-hate villains.
Eason does a great job of adding just enough romance to soften the intense plot line, keeping you guessing all the way to the end, while throwing in a few life lessons along the way — learning to trust; allowing one’s self to find strength from other people, as well as God; and knowing God has a plan and will always overcome evil.
This was a fantastic start to what looks to be an amazing series. Book two, which is set to arrive in Summer 2018, will feature Izzy’s sister Chloe and her K-9 partner Hank. I can’t wait!
Five stars out of five.
