I see you’re in your places.
With your funny bunny smiles
Across your sunny faces.”
Melody Carlson and illustrator Bethany Harris join forces again with “Good Morning, God,” a story that will quickly become a family favorite.
Written in rhyme, Carlson’s text encourages children to show gratitude and care for others, as well as the importance of friendship and family. As the young girl featured wishes good morning to important things in her life — no matter how incidental — like the sunshine, her bunny slippers, the bathroom sink and her teddy bear, ultimately she knows to wish good morning to God, who gives her everything.
Besides the fun, rhyming text, this book is filled with colorful and cute illustrations. Harris creates each piece of art with bright colors and pale pastel backgrounds. Some of my favorite pages include the bunny slippers, doggy and kitty scenes.
Carlson and Harris have created another simple piece with a powerful message.
Five stars out of five.
